As the Body of Christ and a vibrant Catholic faith community, we are called to love and serve others.
Drawing strength and unity from the Celebration of the Eucharist, the Sacraments and the Word of God, we strive to honor the gifts of the Spirit, which empowers us to reach our God-given potential. Our belief in the Trinity impels us to seek unity, as we honor our diversity.
Our parish family began its life on November 30, 2008 with a Mass celebrating the merger of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart parish in Colden, NY and St. George parish in West Falls, NY. This Mass told the stories of both communities with symbols, liturgy and song that portrayed a new faith community filled with Spirit and Heart.
The Colden and West Falls faith communities have shared a common bond from the very beginning. Reverend George Crimmons founded these two mission churches in 1912. They celebrated their foundation and building consecration on the same day. Despite their separation into individual parishes in 1942, the two communities maintained a special interest in supporting missions near and far. The outreach programs of each parish were well established. The generosity of both communities has been lauded by the Diocese and the greater Western New York community. With the reuniting of the two parishes, these programs have continued and grown. Our parish mission statement directs and guides our journey together as we share our time, treasure and talent in faith-filled ministry.
