Beware of Fraud Attempts

A Diocesan representative has issued a caution to all parishes regarding a recent fraud attempt.  A pastor advised that his parish had been the victim of a gift card fraud scheme. A communication was sent to the parish purporting to be from the pastor, requesting that an employee purchase $1,100 of Amazon gift cards. The offender then requested the codes to activate the cards. 

 

During these unprecedented times, it is more important than ever to scrutinize any unusual financial requests.
